OUR RESPONSE TO THE RECENT COVID-19 OUTBREAKS


With growing concerns around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to reach out to share the actions Herbert Williams Fire Equipment Limited is taking to ensure our facility is clean and safe for you, our team members and the community in which we serve.

Your Safety – As it has always been, the health, safety and well being of our customers and team members remains our highest priority.

We take great pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. In response to the COVID-19 we have taken addition safety measures, following the lead of Canadian and local public health authorities to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our teams, including:

  • Our team members are receiving ongoing briefings and enhanced operating protocols.
  • We have enhanced cleaning protocols at our location, with particular focus on high traffic and high contact areas (including customer waiting areas, door handles, public washrooms, etc.) and have continued the use of top-grade disinfectant.
  • We are currently reviewing where meetings are held and are using virtual meeting tools when appropriate.
  • We have limited all non-essential travel for our team members
  • We have increased the deployment of antibacterial hand sanitizers
  • We have detailed plans to ensure we are able to provide assistance to all our team members and customers and are prepared to act quickly should we be alerted to a case of COVID-19 at one of our facilities.

Flexibility to serve you – We recognize that you may have an upcoming service and/or sales appointment, we continue to offer you flexible booking to meet your needs.

To keep our community safe, if you are feeling unwell, we will rebook your appointment at a time convenient to you.

 

 

EMPLOYEE SAFETY & DISINFECTION PROCEDURES


1) Nitrile Disposable Gloves shall be worn by field Technicians at all times while on customer premises.

2) Touching of the skin and face should be avoided while wearing the Nitrile gloves.

3) N95 / KN95 Masks ARE required at sites where 25 + people are present.

4) Cleaning solutions will be issued to all field technicians to disinfect equipment prior to working.

5) Safety Glasses shall be worn at all times, both within the plant and on customer premises.

6) All Non-porous items coming in the shop or warehouse are to be disinfected with Spray Nine and left for 24 hours prior to start work on the equipment. All porous items shall be quarantined for 12 hours. No disinfectant is required.

7) We are asking all our Staff to practice social distancing & not to share there tablets or hand held devises.

8) Visits to our Offices & Service Facility and Distribution centre are being restricted to essential service only.

9) Our operations continue with reduced capacity.

 


14 DAY SELF-QUARANTINE REQUIREMENTS


1) If you have travelled outside of Canada or have had close contact with a person ill with COVID-19 and develop symptoms of 2019 novel coronavirus infection, avoid contact with others and call your health care professional prior to visiting.

2) If you have these symptoms: COVID-19 symptoms range from common to severe respiratory illnesses and include: Fever, Cough, Muscle aches and tiredness, Difficulty breathing Less commonly: sore throat, headache and diarrhea have been reported. Older patients and those with chronic medical conditions may be at higher risk for severe illness.

How to Protect Yourself

  • There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Prevention measures include:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 15 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are ill
  • Stay home when you are ill
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then immediately throw the tissue in the garbage and wash your hands
  • If you don’t have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve or arm
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Practise Social Distancing
