Paint & Ink Storage Cabinets FM Approved

Ink and Paint safety cabinets are a safe and dependable method of storing flammable and combustible liquids. These flame-resistant safety cabinets come with adjustable shelves allowing you to re-arrange the configuration to suit your needs to safely store paint tins, aerosols, inks and solvents found in printing, painting, furniture and motor vehicle operations.

Flammable storage cabinets are essential for the storage of bulk chemicals and materials while smaller quantities can be contained within safety cans or dispensing cans for use at work stations or job sites.

All our ink and paint safety cabinets meet or exceed the NFPA Code 30 and OSHA Standard 1910.106 for storage of class I, II and III liquids and are Factory Mutual Approved. Constructed from all-welded 18-gauge steel, equipped with dual capped vents with flame arrestors and full-height piano hinges these cabinets are built to last.

Herbert Williams carries a range of Factory Mutual Approved paint and ink storage cabinets that meet or exceed NFPA Code 30 and OSHA Standard 1910.106 for the storage of Class I, II, and III liquids. Low-capacity 20-gallon units with a single door are an affordable option if you don’t need to store large volumes of flammable liquids. Higher capacity cabinets include premium options such as self-latching doors that can be locked and shelves engineered to direct spills to the back of the unit and into a spill-proof sump.

Latex paints are not considered flammable, as most forms don’t contain any flammable solvents and therefore don’t produce volatile vapours that can catch fire. That being said, you still need a secure way to store paint so that spills are contained and don’t become potential hazards to employees or the environment and paint storage cabinets provide that security.

Aerosol spray-paint cans are filled with paint and propellant in a sealed container without a safety release valve, meaning they are at risk of explosion at high temperatures. As the temperature rises, so does the pressure inside the can. Once temperatures reach about 120° F, you run the risk of an explosion.

Yes. The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your aerosol paint cans will give you specific instructions about how your ink and paint should be stored, and the particular hazards associated with them. OSHA 1910.106 applies to flammable liquids and how to store them, the limits on how much you can store per cabinet, and how many safety cabinets you are allowed to have in a single storage area.
