A REMINDER: REAL CHRISTMAS TREES POSE A SERIOUS FIRE SAFETY ISSUE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON.
As we've seen in recent news reporting, there has been increased demand for real Christmas Trees this Holiday Season. While the look and smell of a real Christmas Tree conjures up so many warm memories this time of year, we really have to take precautions when it comes to keeping our families safe. Even though we've minimized potential heat sources with the use of LED lights on trees, keeping your Christmas Tree properly watered remains incredibly important in helping to make it less of a Fire Hazard.
As this video from the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland below shows, the difference between a properly maintained Christmas Tree and a dry tree is shocking.
Be sure to check that your Smoke Alarms are in proper working condition. Press and hold the test button. If the sound is weak or non-existent, replace your batteries immediately.
